Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community has trained staff to help you and your loved one deal with the various forms of dementia. Respect and dignity are vital elements of care for each resident and it is one of the goals of our team to preserve those essentials. Sunshine Meadows staff stands ready to partner with you and the members of your family in the care of your family member. Our support group can make a huge difference to the family. Please know that you are welcome to visit anytime and can take your loved one for outings.

The Memory Care Unit at Sunshine Meadows provides: • A safe, caring environment. • Trained staff members, who have daily contact with residents, play a role in monitoring cognitive skills and any advancement of dementia. • Guidance and protection from dangerous situations. • A place to protect the privacy and dignity of your loved one. • A secure area so your loved one will not wander off. • Skilled staff to redirect your loved one/other residents in a positive manner to keep everyone from harm. • Freedom for residents to safely go outside dressed properly for the weather within a secure Memory Garden. • Activities designed to help with memory recall and keep residents engaged. • A higher staff to resident ratio for more individualized care. • A kitchen, dining room, living room positioned more like a home atmosphere. • Opportunities for baking fresh pastries in the kitchen with supervision. • Calming, comfortable surroundings. • A support group for family members to help them cope with each stage of dementia.
